The Silver and Blue Units are Capacitors with BRASS Hardware, phone companies often mount these where the phone line OR Control lines enter your house and get Grounded. These were installed for both Surge Protection and Static Discharge on phone/modem/control lines.

The Gray boxes have a modular Phone Jack on them, they have a "TOROID" Inductor in them roughly 2.85MH. Likely for RFI/Noise Filtering on a phone/data line.
