Ad Number:1495464
Date Placed:07/02/20
Name:Peter E Steffes
Phone Number:313-580-0449
Callsign:W8AA
Category:ANNOUNCE
Heading:Scammer Alert K4CDL
Ad Message:Beware Scammer/Impostor who says he is K4CDL texting from 615-241-9065 and using the email address of Binaryliza3 at gmail.com is responding to Wanted Ads. He provides multiple pictures of equipment and asks you to send payment via Cash App or PayPal to his wife, Corey Stewart, at Binaryliza3 at gmail.com. He also wants you to email him a screenshot of the Cash App or PayPal transaction which shows portions of information about your credit card and bank account number so he can continue stealing from you after he stiffs you for the first bogus transaction. Talked to the real K4CDL, Tom, in Nashville, TN (Area Code 615) and he informs me he is inactive and not buying or selling any equipment at this time. Pete, W8AA, 313-580-0449

Your Response to this Ad:

Due to the amount of non-ham scammers trying to respond to the ads, I am now asking a simple question that ham operators should easily be able to answer, but scammers may not know the answer: What is the number that hams use to represent the phrase "Best Regards"? This number is typically transmitted by hams at the end of a QSO.
Best Regards:
