Ad Number:1726325
Date Placed:04/18/25
Name:John Allen
Phone Number:573-470-0358
Callsign:N0JA
Category:ANTHF
Heading:ANTENNA TUNERS AND HF ANTENNAS
Ad Message:An antenna tuner used with a poor antenna is NOT a good use of the tuner. Put up a good half wave antenna on 80 or 160 meters FED WTH OPEN WIRE LINE and a good Antenna Tuner will allow you to work all HF bands with good results, equal to or better than a coax fed ½ wave antenna tuned to a specific frequency. Also the tuner and good antenna will allow you to work on any frequency in the ham bands with 1.1 to 1 SWR allowing these fussy solid state rigs to deliver full output. My favorite Antenna Tuner is the Johnson Matchbox balanced line tuner. The Dentron Super Tuner will also give good results even though they use a balun to go from balanced to their unbalanced tuning network. They will also work with coax fed antennas as long as the SWR is not so high that it introduces high feed line loss. The Super Tuner will give good results as long as the untuned SWR is 3 to 1 or less on Coax fed dipole antennas. G5RV’s OCF’s ETC.antennas are OK if you don’t mind a 1 or 2 S unit loss!

Your Response to this Ad:

Due to the amount of non-ham scammers trying to respond to the ads, I am now asking a simple question that ham operators should easily be able to answer, but scammers may not know the answer: What is the number that hams use to represent the phrase "Best Regards"? This number is typically transmitted by hams at the end of a QSO.
Best Regards:
