Ad Number:1733203
Date Placed:06/17/25
Name:Paul
Phone Number:229-344-9870
Callsign:N5PS
Category:RADIOVHF
Heading:Kenwood TM-742 Tech Special/Parts Rig
Ad Message:This Kenwood TM-742 is being sold as a tech special/parts rig.
The control head works. Backlights good. I would rate the head about 8.5 out of 10 cosmetically.
The 440 MHz module works fine, receive and transmit. 35 watts out measured on my Bird. The memory battery has been recently replaced. The 2 meter module does not receive or transmit. It indicates frequency in the display and shows a power indication on transmit. The microprocessor appears to be hard coded for the European band plan. No amount of moving the resistor network around changes it. The previous owner tried in vain as did I. Also occasionally the micro will get stuck in a power on loop. Disconnecting it from the power supply for a period of time usually restores normal operation. I would rate the cosmetics of the case as a 6 out of 10. $125 plus shipping. Radio only. No mic or power cord. PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, USPS Money Order, personal check (allow time for check to clear). Sold as is. No returns or refunds.

Your Response to this Ad:

Due to the amount of non-ham scammers trying to respond to the ads, I am now asking a simple question that ham operators should easily be able to answer, but scammers may not know the answer: What is the number that hams use to represent the phrase "Best Regards"? This number is typically transmitted by hams at the end of a QSO.
Best Regards:
