- SPE Expert 1.5K-FA Second Series 1.5KW solid state amplifier.
Specifications indicate: 1.8-50MHz including WARC bands. One unit with built in power supply, automatic antenna tuner capable of matching up to 5:1 SWR on HF and 2.5:1 SWR on 6 meters, watt meter, SWR meter, two transceiver inputs, four antenna outputs. Management of SteppIR / Ultrabeam aerials. Full break-in QSK. Antenna management (band change, antenna change, tuner control) can be used while unit is in Standby with CAT connection. Includes a carry-bag and original box.
Very good physical condition and has been operating without any known issues. I have only used this amplifier on SSB and CW. This amplifier is presently operating with firmware that does not automatically limit maximum power out to 3 seconds from a steady-carrier transmission. I am not the original owner. Will not include power plug. As-is, $4500 includes shipping and insurance to ConUS only. Postal money order is best, but....

- AMPVHF - FOR SALE: W6PO 2 meter amplifier
- This is a well built W6PO designed amplifier employing "plumber's delight" tubing for the resonator tubes. A turns counter operates the Plate cap. The load cap is adjusted from the rear panel. Adjustable input matching provides for fine tuning of the input SWR. An Omron Technologies Time Delay Relay provides proper warmup for the 8877 (3CX1500A7) tube. The RF deck is mounted in a rack mount case that sits atop a custom built roll around cabinet. The high voltage transformer and filter caps are mounted in a separate housing sitting inside the cabinet. High voltage is manually controlled by a Variac. The amplifier is wired for 240 AC voltage. Driving the amp with 35 watts easily produces a 1KW signal. 45 - 50 watts brings it to full legal limit.. Asking price for this amplifier is $1100.00. - This is a milspec Eimac 8877 ceramic triode, NATO# V06-0001-000 5960-00-313-6715 sh:2921
It fits perfectly into any 8877 socket since the OD is identical to consumer grade Eimac 8877. But the inner heatsink is 2X the surface area of Eimac consumer, and the heatsink metal itself is 50% thicker than Eimac consumer (see NATO-Consumer head to head heatsink photo)
It has been tested to legal limit power which it achieves easily. But it’s clear from looking at its physical characteristics that NATO wanted and got an 8877 that could be pushed harder, for longer, and in more extreme conditions.
The tube has been tested (anode characteristics consistent with being clipped into a rig for testing), but otherwise it appears to be in unused or very lightly used condition. Comes in original packing materials.
