SHIPPING USING USPS "MEDIA MAIL": I know many of us mail books and magazines, Handbooks, Callbooks and old catalogs using the US Postal Service's MEDIA MAIL (also often referred to as Book Rate). I was made aware by my local Post Office clerk that sending items that contains advertising, EVEN OLD ADS, not allowed to be mailed using Media Mail. -THE USPS PROHIBITS MAILING ITEMS BY MEDIA MAIL (PRINTED MATTER) THAT CONTAINS ANY ADVERTISING, even if the ads are really old ads (such as in old QSTs, Callbooks, and the older ARRL Handbooks). Ayu Alice Update: I received a check by Priority Mail today. The envelope has a return address of an insurance company in Roscoe, Il. The name on the check is Penny & Cople from Deland Fl. and has a residential address. The check is signed by Penny E. Cople. The item I was selling was $60--The check is for $1150. The check looks phony. Everything including the Payee and signature looks to be pre-printed in the same ink. It is drawn on Fairwinds Credit Union of Orlando Fl. and It has their routing number on it. However, you can easily see that it is a phony check. I am going to call the credit union tomorrow (it's too late today) to see if the account number is real. I have included a picture of the check for your enjoyment. Just want to keep you updated. Beware of Matthew Culuik: Beware of Matthew Ciluik of Buffalo NY. He has a call sign but I cant find it. He sent me an Acom 1000 for repair. I received it and fixed it, sent it back and UPS dropped it. I filed for the insurance but it will take a few weeks. Meanwhile Mr. Ciluik went buzerk and I mean HIGH ORDER buzerk. To calm him down after some 8 or 9 calls , I told him I would have a new one shipped to him from DX Engineering , I paid for it (nice guy) and I will put the claim in and get the insurance money on ONE condition, he sent the original one back to me so I could rebuild it and recoup my losses.
UPDATE: For those of you interested , I have had a FLOOD of supporters near his QTH that are pointing out his illegal power on 11 meters he is running. If you want to hear the Acom 1000 , tune in 27.385 LSB in the afternoons. The folks in Canada on the border are really upset that he splatters all over the band on AM and SSB.
