Hallicrafters SX-25 Super Defiant: For Sale is my Hallicrafters SX-25 Super Defiant receiver serial number 109989.
It comes with an original manual. It has been completely recapped and aligned. The chassis has been cleaned of all grime, any weak tubes were replaced.
The cabinet is not perfect, reflecting the "patina" of an 80 year old radio.
The SX-25 has crystal filtering, noise blanker, and a strong BFO. It is a nice CW and even SSB receiver. AM sounds great as would be expected.
It needs a 5000 or 500 ohm speaker or transformer to match 3.2 or 8 ohm speakers. I will include this transformer.
I will also include some spare tubes.
The price is $175. It is a heavy receiver and not practical to ship. Pickup in SE MIchigan is necessary or I will gladly meet the buyer at a mutually agreed upon location. Collins 51s-1 Receiver: Unit is in working condition but 3 mhz band crystal may be defective. Overall alignment may be needed to improve s/n ratio on some or all bands. The origonal pilot light behind the MHz window was replaced with a LED unit which greatly improved the visability but can be completely reversed to the origonal lighting if desirable. No extra holes were put on outside of unit and only a few were put on the inside at chassis supports. All removed parts will be included along with a bindered manual. Outside of cabinet and front panel is in very good shape with no noticeable dings, dents, or scratches.
