This home made A/C power supply PRICE LOWERED AGAIN ($40 PLUS SHIPPING) is in good functional and cosmetic condition. I purchased this item at a local sale. It has a variable autotransformer VARIAC at 120 Volt A/C input 0 to 134 Volts 2.5 Amps output. I added the output fuse holder, voltmeter, and input power indicator lamp. The indicator lamp illuminates when the unit is connected to 115 volt A/C power source and the power switch is in the ON position. The A/C output is fused at 2.5 amps. This is a great tester for use in testing and repairing vintage electronic devices, as it can be used to bring the voltage up slowly while monitoring the current and reform older electrolytic filter capacitors. Bought this to use with my IC706MKIIG.
As soon as I unboxed it to try it, I noticed the problem. The 'N' connectors are used for UHF measurements. The meter's SO-239 connectors accommodate 160m thru 2m. The 706 has separate SO-239s for HF and VHF/UHF. I cannot connect my 2m output to the meter's SO-239 when my HF antenna is already connected!! Nowhere does/do the dealer(s) tell you that.
I like the meter. Seems sturdy, it's good looking, and would be easy to use.
