The Amperex 4-250 / 5022 is a high power
transmitting tube, very closely related to
the well known 4-400, and a cousin to the
3-500. It fits the same socket as the 4-400
and 3-500.

The major difference between the 4-250 and
4-400 is that the 4-250 has 250 watts of plate
dissipation, while the 4-400 has 400 watts.
They usually can be used interchangeably as
long as the plate dissipation is not exceeded.

Weak 4-250
This 4-250 has low output.
It is not dead or shorted, but simply has low output.
It would be ideal for testing an amplifier. It is
NOT dead.

Eimac 8877 tubes: I have 5 Eimac 8877 tubes and just tested them in an AL-1500 amplifier. Drive was 50 watts and frequency was 21.260 where my 15m antenna is flat. I marked the power output on each one and then tried another watt meter which reads about 100w lower at that power level. Each of them is marked (1300, 1500, 1525, 1550,1600) watts with 50w drive on 15m. To be conservative we can go with the lower reading meter but still say they are good tubes and should deliver the legal limit. The ones marked 1500, 1525, 1550 are all basically the same. I just wanted to identify them differently from each other. I have a new one on EBAY which tested at 1500 watts. Price is $875 each shipped. Due to the nature of this item I cannot guarantee anything or allow returns. For Sale: Econco 3CX300A7 (tests weak): I have an Econco 3CX3000A7 that I got in an estate sale. I sent it to Richardson Electronics in Florida to be tested and I’ve attached the test report.
I think I can only put up one picture so I thought the test report was most important. I have a photo of the actual tube with my QSL card and will send it to you if you contact me.
Per Richardson’s analysis, this is a good candidate for a rebuild. I am going to Hamvention this coming weekend and can deliver it to you there at no charge. Asking $150 or best offer.
